The GCDC Gang is a jug band you will love.
We combine roots, ragtime, rock, folk, country, heavy metal, blues, jazz, and everything else that we like. GCDCs unique "mixed-bag stringband" sound is fun for everyone. Especially if you like great harmonies!
The GCDC Gang pushes the word "band" to its definitional limits. Each guitarist/banjo/mandolin/bass playing member not only wields multiple instruments with ease, but each has earned their own reputation 'round the 16 Mile Creek as a bonefied singer-songwriter extraordinaire! Combining forces, our collaborations bring out the best of our creative spirits. Usually while drinking from jugs.
Ronnie James MacKay and John Marlatt (aka Earl Grey) started this crazy jugband with original members K-MACK, Ricky Joe and Warren Muzak. Warren left, creating TwoTwentyTwo with his sweetie Amanda Brewer. John recently dropped out to concentrate on supporting indie music in Oakville, running The Moonshine Cafe and writing songs. We continue to include his great music in our sets and CDs.
Paul Dante (Craw Ditty) joined the following year, and Dave Toms the year after that. The gang is also very active in promoting indie music, by running open mic nights and jams at both the Moonshine Cafe as well as organizing Oakville's best "battle of the bands." GCDC has performed at the Mariposa Showcase, Oakville Waterfront Festival, Just Plain Folks, Bronte Harbourfront Festival, The Moonshine Cafe, Winterfolk, the Velvet Elvis, and numerous fundraisers and charity events. With all the band members being individual singer/songwriters you can also catch us doing solo gigs and duets, both electric and acoustic.
Much thanks to our families, friends, and fans for all of your support.
